So much has happened since I started writing Book 1, Camp Lessons, in the Sugar Squad Chronicles for my son (back in 2023).  There are now 5 published books in that series and 5 published books in the Vista del Vino cozy mystery series, including  Book 1, Murder Uncorked. The first three books in the mystery series are now available on audio and the entire Sugar Squad series has gotten a makeover.

I am now looking forward to my first YA release, Five Minute Major, a first-person, dual-POV hockey fiction. If you are interested in joining the Beta/ARC team for this or future releases, please email erin@braverybooks.com or check out the Beta/ARC Q&A page for more information.

I had fun collecting stories of everyday bravery last year and wouldn’t mind reviving that. If you have stories of bravery that you’d like to share, please email me Erin: (erin@braverybooks.com). Let us know if you’d like to have your name included or share anonymously–Either is great!

Once you’ve done that, We hope you’ll stick around to check out some of the existing stories of bravery that make BraveryBooks what it is.

For Parents: Meet everyday champions through Superhero Moms, Warrior Kids, spotlighting the stories of nine women raising young Type 1 Warriors, who will soon grow up to be advocates of their own. These stories have the power to uplift and inspire readers well beyond the diabetes community!

For Teacher & Students: Introduce yourself to a real-word superhero in Get to Know Frederick Banting. Be inspired by Dr. Banting’s determination and creativity.

For Young Adventurers: Embark on outdoor escapades, road trip adventures and even a mystery or two with The Sugar Squad Chronicles! Cheer on Grayson, Ava and the rest of the Squad as they conquer life’s challenges with the help of strong friendships and a healthy dose of determination.

No matter your reading interests, you’ll find there’s a little of something here for everyone.

Cozy Mysteries

Welcome everyone and thank you for visiting the home of Bravery Books. After many long years of strictly academic writing, I am thrilled to now be writing creative stories of joy and triumph! My first self-published book was released in January, 2023, under the title of “Ten Tiny Fingers, Ten Tiny Toes: Caring for the Type 1 Diabetic & Child.” It recently underwent a a supercharged makeover and now can be found under the title of Superhero Moms, Warrior Kids.  I think the title is much more inviting than the original. Hopefully you agree!

But that’s not all. In 2023, I started a fictional kids’ series, The Sugar Squad Chronicles. There are now 5 published titles in that series, and all five of them were re-released with new covers in 2025. While writing the mysteries for that series, I realized how much I enjoy writing in the cozy mystery genre (plenty to keep your brain going without too much gore, s*x or otherwise R-rated content). In 2024, I started the Vista del Vino cozy culinary mystery series, which now has 5 published titles!

And in December 2025, I will be releasing a YA hockey fiction–phew!

Some may wonder why I jump from genre to genre so much. Well…Bravery Books is the long and short answer to that question. I enjoy all kinds of writing, but every project I take on has a common theme: Positive disability advocacy. At the heart of every Bravery Books title, there is at least one individual living their best life in the face of a physical disability or chronic illness.

By the way, I also have a nonfiction book for kids: Get to Know Frederick Banting.

As you’ll notice, all of these titles have one thing in common. They are designed to uplift and inspire those who live with, or care about, someone with a chronic medical condition.

I hope you enjoy checking out the new site. And please remember to check back often for updates.
